Raspberry, rose petal, and spice plum are just a few of the notes that rise from the glass and envelop the bouquet of this gorgeous cool climate, Spatburngunder (German for Pinot Noir) look-alike from New York.

A terroir of this pedigree will show its value in whatever variety is grown. The ultimate terroir is the one that delivers excellence in both red and white wine. The Pinot Noir from Leidenfrost is a phenomenal example of Pinot from a cool climate. It simultaneously carries the characters of the shale soils and classic nuances found in Pinot Noir.

The Finger Lakes - FLX as the cool kids call it - is set to come on strong and is a wine region to watch.  With a combination of now older vines, more experienced winemakers, more investment, and even global warming to an extent, the wines from here have never been better.

Forge is a small, artisanal producer focusing entirely on Dry Riesling and Pinot Noir. Forge are 3 partners: French Winemaker-Grower, Louis Barruol of Château de Saint Cosme in Gigondas and American partners Richard Rainey, and Justin Boyette
